The Book That Jumped Off the Shelf at the Airport

I love finding a book at the airport before a long trip.

Do you?

There’s just something about that in-between space—leaving one chapter, heading into another—where the right book seems to find me.

This one totally jumped off the shelf.

I didn’t read the back.

Didn’t Google it.

I just thought, yep… you’re coming with me.

Now I’m on the first leg of my journey, and I’m already smiling because it turns out it’s all about Circe—a minor goddess from The Odyssey who usually gets painted as the “witch who turns men into pigs."

But this version?

She gets to tell her own story.

It’s about her life, her struggles, her relationships, her power, her heart… motherhood, exile, love, all of it. Basically, a woman who’s been misunderstood and underestimated finally centered in her own story. Sound familiar?

And honestly… how perfect for the final stretch of the Year of the Snake

A time when we’re all being asked to shed old skins and re-imagine our lives from a place of empowerment and love instead of trying to fit in and fear.

Airport magic strikes again.

Have you read it?

How do you choose your travel books? Tell me — I’m curious.

Love,

Deb
